Direct Manual Driving Lessons With Fast Pass

Fast Pass currently provides direct manual tuition for:

complete beginners;
nervous learners;
partly trained pupils changing instructor;
returning learners;
pupils preparing for a practical test;
weekly driving lessons; and
intensive or semi-intensive enquiries where suitable.

Direct lesson availability depends on:

your full postcode;
journey time from existing pupils;
the days and times you can attend regularly;
your previous driving experience;
your theory-test status;
any practical-test date; and
the amount of preparation time available.

Current Fast Pass Manual Lesson Prices

Current direct Fast Pass manual driving-lesson prices are:

Single one-hour lesson: £40
Double two-hour lesson: £80
Block of 10 hours: £380
Block of 20 hours: £760
Block of 30 hours: £1,140

Prepaid block hours cost £38 per hour instead of the standard £40 single-lesson rate.

These prices apply to direct Fast Pass manual tuition. Any independent instructor who later receives an enquiry through Fast Pass may set their own lesson prices, booking terms and cancellation conditions.

Fast Pass currently provides direct manual tuition rather than automatic driving lessons.

You may still submit an automatic lesson enquiry so Fast Pass can record demand and consider whether a suitable independent instructor is available now or as the future instructor network develops.

Fast Pass is developing a wider instructor-enquiry service gradually. The first planned external Scottish territories are:

Glasgow Shieldhall;
Paisley;
Airdrie;
Hamilton;
East Kilbride;
Livingston;
Grangemouth;
Stirling;
Edinburgh Currie; and
Edinburgh Musselburgh.

These are planned pilot territories rather than a claim that instructors are already available in every location.

What to Include in Your Enquiry

To help Fast Pass review your enquiry efficiently, include:

your full name;
your mobile number and email address;
your full postcode;
whether you need manual or automatic lessons;
your previous driving experience;
whether you currently have an instructor;
whether you have passed your theory test;
any practical-test date and test centre;
the days and times you can attend regularly;
when you would like to start;
whether you prefer weekly or intensive lessons; and
anything relevant to the type of support you need.

The more complete the information is, the easier it is to assess whether direct tuition or another option may be suitable.

How the Future Instructor-Matching Service Will Work

Fast Pass intends to develop the instructor network carefully rather than claim immediate coverage across the whole country.

The planned process is:

A learner submits an enquiry.
The postcode, test centre, transmission and availability are reviewed.
Where a suitable instructor is available, the enquiry may be offered to that instructor.
The instructor confirms whether they can accept the learner.
The learner and instructor arrange lessons directly.
Fast Pass records whether the enquiry resulted in a booking.

Initially, enquiries may be reviewed and passed on manually. Automatic routing may be introduced only after the process has been tested properly.

How to Choose a Driving Instructor

Before arranging lessons with any instructor, consider:

whether they are properly qualified or legally entitled to provide paid tuition;
whether they teach manual or automatic;
the areas they genuinely cover;
their lesson length and prices;
their cancellation and refund terms;
their availability;
their approach to nervous learners;
whether they provide clear progress feedback;
whether they can support your practical-test plans; and
whether their teaching style suits how you learn.

Do not choose only on price. Reliability, communication, teaching quality and suitability are also important.

Already Have a Practical Test Booked?

Include the test date and test centre in your enquiry.

A practical test being booked does not guarantee:

that an instructor has suitable diary space;
that enough preparation time remains;
that the instructor will agree to provide their vehicle;
that you are already at the required driving standard; or
that an intensive course is suitable.

An assessment may be required before any test-day vehicle commitment is considered.

Can Fast Pass guarantee that an instructor is available?

No. Direct Fast Pass manual availability depends on postcode and diary space. Automatic and out-of-area enquiries may be recorded or referred where possible, but an instructor cannot be guaranteed.

Does Fast Pass currently provide automatic lessons?

No. Fast Pass currently provides direct manual driving tuition. Automatic enquiries may still be submitted for review.

How much do direct Fast Pass lessons cost?

A one-hour manual lesson costs £40 and a two-hour lesson costs £80. Blocks of 10, 20 and 30 hours cost £380, £760 and £1,140 respectively.

Will every independent instructor charge the same price?

No. Independent instructors set their own prices, availability, payment methods and booking terms.

Can I enquire when I already have a test booked?

Yes, but include the date, test centre, experience and availability. The instructor must assess whether there is enough preparation time and whether use of their vehicle is appropriate.

Can I request an intensive course?

Yes. Include your experience, theory status, availability and any test date. Intensive tuition is not suitable for every learner and depends on diary capacity.

Does submitting the form confirm a booking?

No. An enquiry is a request for availability. Lessons are not confirmed until the relevant instructor has responded and agreed the arrangements.

Will Fast Pass expand into other areas?

Fast Pass intends to develop selected Scottish test-centre territories gradually, beginning with areas where learner demand and suitable instructor availability can be demonstrated.

Learned to drive with Scott almost 10 years ago now and even to this day I still recommend him to anyone that is looking for a driving instructor, he’s very relaxed and makes you feel really at ease from the word go, he is very straight talking and gives very clear instructions, I undertook one of his 30 hour intense driving courses over the course of 10 days and it allowed me to pass my test only 3 weeks after I turned 17, couldn’t recommend Scott enough
